|This is a flyer from the
concert I produced in San Francisco's, Little Tokyo, while managing
Akemi Iwase. Senichei Tanaka was the Sensei for the Tiako Dojo Drummers.
They were terriffic.
The name Moon Blossoms was from the lyrics to a song I wrote in the seventies, called "Butterflies and Moonbeams." In the lyrics I mentioned moon blossoms.
When Mickey Hart, the drummer with the Grateful Dead, was doing some of the sound and music for Francis Ford Coppola's film, Apocalypse Now he wanted to use the Taiko Dojo Drummers. He called me about bringing them to Coppola's Birthday party in Yountville. It was short notice, but they came, and I took Akemi along and set her up in Coppola's house, playing her guitar and singing.
I took Akemi to see Sarah Vaughan at a concert in Northern California, and introduced her to Sass after the show.
More to come.
